Enabling federation for courses
Joining a federation does not, on its own, let any students reserve seats at other member centers. Federation must be turned on for each individual course at its home center before that course's students can make federated reservations. This gives center staff per-course control over which courses participate in the federation.
Where to manage it
From your testing center's homepage, go to the Courses tab. When your center is an accepted member of at least one federation, each linked course shows a Federation column with an Enabled or Disabled status.
Use the pencil button in the Federation column to enable or disable federation for a course.
If your center does not belong to any federation, the Federation column is hidden.
Who can do it
This must be done by a testing center staff member with the Exam Editor role or higher.
Center staff without the Exam Editor permission can still view the Federation column but cannot change it.
Enabling federation for a course
- Go to the Courses tab.
- In the course's Federation column, select the pencil button next to Disabled.
- Check Enable federation and save.
Once enabled, students in that course can reserve seats at other centers in your center's federations (subject to the exam being available and accommodation mappings being in place — see Accommodation mappings).
Federation can only be enabled while the center is a member of a federation.
Disabling federation for a course
- Go to the Courses tab.
- In the course's Federation column, select the pencil button next to Enabled.
- If the course has live federated reservations, confirm the action by typing the course's name.
Warning: Disabling federation for a course permanently deletes that course's live federated reservations — the reservations students have made to take this course's exams at other member centers. This action cannot be undone. Exercise caution when disabling federation during active exam periods.
